The Melbourne Japanese Summer Festival has been a cultural event that mirrors the traditional Japanese culture including food, art, traditional music and performance.
The aim of this event is not limited to showcase Japanese culture, but also to create a unique opportunity for both the local Japanese community and non-Japanese Australians to enjoy, learn and witness facets of Japanese culture.
The festival 2022 will be delivered via a virtual platform. This will allow us to safely enjoy this unique cultural event and to sustain the connection and relationship amongst local and Japanese communities.
Chair of the Organising Committee
Every Summer since 2010, our committee has organised the Melbourne Japanese Summer Festival in the heart of Melbourne.
The Covid-19 pandemic is slowly subsiding and our lives are getting back to normal, but we still need to be vigilant. In light of this situation, we decided to run an online virtual Summer festival on 27th February 2022, as we did last year.
The theme of the 2022 festival is “Get Healthy, Be Happy!”, with our hope of making you all healthier and happier through Japanese culture.
We will have many programs for you to watch, play, experience, and interact with and are hopeful that many of you come and join the event. Moreover, we will start to sell raffle tickets earlier than past years. You will have a big chance to win wonderful award(s) so please check it out.
To conclude, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge my sincere appreciation for the Consulate-General of Japan in Melbourne, the Victorian Government, Federation Square, Greater Western Water and the members of Japanese corporations for their generous support and sponsorship for the Virtual Melbourne Japanese Summer Festival.
